This was shot on a one to one earlier in the year. I was feeling a little bit miserable with the cold weather so added a little bit of sunshine from the summer! A simple shot with extra flash and about one stop under exposure has created a dramatic effect. A recent photograph showing how to shoot pictures in low light. A tripod is essential to minimise camera shake. A long shutter speed of 2 seconds was needed to get a correct exposure as it was so dark. I used the rule of thirds to aid composition and also made the most of the various diagonal lines which are very strong compositional aids. Beautiful light, beautiful architecture, beautiful location- this is why I am a photographer!

Shot in Eastbourne, Sussex, England. I used a tripod with a cable release and mirror-up. The exposure was several seconds, hence the tripod allows the picture to be sharp. Use a small aperture like F11 for extended depth of field. It also allows the water to blur and become misty. Shot with a Nikon DSLR D2x and medium telephoto of 100mm.
